Exxon Valdez - Press Release from Defenders of Wildlife

From: http://defenders.org

It hasn't been too long to forget the Valdez. And it's definitely not too early to worry about the future of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and other endangered habitats.

Exxon's 1989 tanker spill dumped millions of gallons of crude oil into the waters of Alaska's pristine Prince William Sound, killing hundreds of thousands of seals, otters, birds, fish and whales. Unfortunately, sixteen years later ExxonMobil still hasn't cleaned up its act. It's still supporting policies that put wildlife and wildlife habitat at risk.

The time has come to hold this multibillion-dollar corporation accountable. Visit http://www.defenders.org/exxposeexxon/ to find out what you can do.

ExxonMobil is spearheading efforts to open America's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil drilling. It is sabotaging efforts to slow global warming and refusing to put its huge profits to good use developing clean, renewable energy or supporting fuel efficiency. The company is still trying to get out of paying the full amount it owes fishermen and Native Americans hurt by the 1989 Valdez spill -- despite raking in a historic $25 billion profit last year.

It's time to hold ExxonMobil responsible for putting corporate profits over protection of wildlife and wildlife habitat. That's why Defenders of Wildlife has joined with other leading environmental and public interest advocacy organizations to form the Exxpose Exxon Campaign. The Campaign works to educate and activate Americans about the corporation's efforts to drill in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, prevent action on global warming, and encourage America's oil dependence.

Help us show ExxonMobil that profits and conservation can go hand in hand. Please visit http://www.defenders.org/exxposeexxon/ and fill out the form to tell the company's CEO Lee Raymond that you won't purchase the company's gasoline or products, invest in its stock, or work for the company until it changes its ways.

Thanks for supporting wildlife-friendly business practices.

Sincerely,

Rodger Schlickeisen
President
